You want to be happy, they want to be happy, all of us want to be happy. You try something, they try something and everyone does something to be happy. But it eludes all of us. Happiness seems so hard to get. And it’s frustrating because you’re rational adult with intelligence. Perhaps then, it’s time to admit that you’re doing something wrong. You may be chasing the wrong path till now. It’s really not your fault though, for there’re so many wrong ideas out there in the world. [Gyana Saram Verse#17 by Yagyamurthy - A disciple of Sri Ramanujar] ஒன்றிடுக விண்ணவர் கோண் செலவமொழிந்திடுக என்றும் இரவாதிருந்திடுக – இன்றே இறக்கக் களிப்பும் கவர்வும் இவற்றால் பிறக்குமோ? தற்று எளிந்த பின் [Translated:Worldly people experience happiness because they either get wealth or long life. They experience sadness by the subsequent loss of wealth or lack of long life that manifests itself in sudden death. But real happiness is in one knowing himself, meaning, the true nature of his soul.]

There would have been many a times in your life where you would have been in either states: one where the decision-making would be unbelievably easy or you were not able to decide between the alternatives. In the first scenario it is very easy and we do not need to spend anymore time there. We currently need to only look into the second scenario. If I were to look into the big picture, the reason for the difficulty in making the decision would be that either you are CONFUSED or CONFLICTED. Let me look at how the Webster online dictionary defines these two words; Confused: being disordered or mixed up. Conflicted: (a feeling of) mental struggle resulting from incompatible or opposing needs, drives, wishes, or external or internal demands. My very first embedded project was for the client "Toshibha" which is where I encountered the Japanese culture in reality. The only part which I remember from that time (way back in 2002) is that I have not said these words "THANK YOU" very often in my recent times. I remember every call that we had, there used to be around 15 "Arigato" [Thank You in Japanese] and all of them with a sweet smile. I have heard from many who have visited Japan say, you can find the "Thank You" every where in their country.
In fact I have now started realising that instead of thanking the people who have crossed my life everyday, I often come up with either silence or excuses or reasons not to. What I have found is that simply saying these 2 words make more meaning in my life than the success which I am currently chasing. |
