Most of you are movie geeks but has it ever occurred to you that there is something magical about seeing the movie locations with your very own eyes. The celebrities and cameras may have gone, but a story’s physical setting stays just where it is. You can consider it as a star in its own right. I am not able to find time between the daily chores such as travel of office and back, time with kids, TV, News with Arnab. So many of the places which I like to see and visit are still in a dream state. So rather than forgetting it I thought that I would list them down and see if I can make it work. So I decided to list all the places and then filter the top 5 and keep it as a goal. This is the background of today's blog. Here are my top 5 locations which I want to see and have put it in my bucket list.

Right from our young age we have been exposed to success and failures via media a lot. We have seen many great artists. actors, comedians, sports person, athletes, designers and other creative persons. Some of us may have also had the privilege to work with them or see them from close quarters. Never have we thought about the challenge which is out there. What separates these successful creative persons from others? That question is of greater importance now than ever before because creative work plays a bigger role in business today than at any time previous. Ask any entrepreneur. The easy answer is the wrong one. It is not talents or hard work. These two certainly play an important role but it is not the decider between successful creative personal and the others. I like to take MS Dhoni has a case study here. [There are many who I can take as reference and they will fit in but find Dhoni;s name to gel with everyone]. I think the determining factor is in how they think in the crunch moments. Successful creatives cultivate a different mindset than unsuccessful ones. Come summer time in my younger days, we were always sent to our grand parents house as a vacation plan. For many years in continuity I have traveled to மன்னார்குடி (Mannargudi) [Note: no way related to the infamous family]. The only past time there would be to go and play in those open fields where the farmers grew tomatoes, rice, sugar cane and bananas. Coming back to today, my vacations are to look at resorts, beach getaways, farm stay and the word FARMER has been cut out from the vocabulary. Even the highways do not have much greenery for my kids to enjoy what I got in the 80s while travelling. So to learn more about farming (which I do not know much) I reached out to one of my old friends father who is still a practicing farmer and got to learn many tips about farming which needs to be extended to the leadership fraternity to make them a better leader. So lets get to that business. In the past 30 minutes, how many times have you opened and locked your phone, checked your Outlook Mail, refreshed FB page, checked a Whatapp message? In case you have a guilty feeling then don't be, everyone today is having this habit. Today we have tons of tools and apps to make us more productive but in reality it turns out that they are the main source of our distractions, stress and create bad time management experience. The dictionary meaning of productive is - "producing or able to produce large amounts of goods, crops, or other commodities.". When we move out of this paradigm, Productivity ideally is to harness your attention. The first step to achieving focus is to recognise the causes for your attention to be broken. If we learn to identify and recognise the things which makes you non-productive, you can easily increase your productivity. The traditional Chinese language speaks in images, not words. It is a language composed of pictographs and ideograms. There are no tenses, gender, plural or singular indications, articles or prepositions made explicit, and quite often no subject or object identified. The beauty about this system is that it lets the readers imagination resonate with the message’s sense of the meaning, not totally based on the semantics. Since the reader has to use his vivid imagination and contemplate the writer’s intention, the meanings contained can go much deeper beneath the mere surface of the communication. Let us see the construction of the word "LISTEN' in Chinese. (Refer the image above for reference) |
