AR Rehman is a legend by himself and I am a great fan of him. It's been 20 years since he burst into the scene through Roja and has enthralled 2 vastly different generations - one which saw the sunset of Maestro Illayaraja and the other which grew up with him. So he had a tough time in convincing the older generations that his music was not synthesized and perhaps he wanted to differentiate from the Illayaraja school of live orchestra recording. He not only introduced a new way of composing but also infused a lot of technology into the field. There is now always a comparison between him and his predecessors and have come to a stage that we call it as IB and RA: Illayaraja and before, Rehman and after. There is a vast difference between the 2 timelines and maybe a fault-line is running over it waiting to shake the industry. Many new and young composers have entered the race and have started to make a name for themselves but yet Rehman remain the king of them all. Every legend composer have come into this industry by disrupting the previous one and have taken the bar to the next level. Rehman displaced Illayaraja and has reigned since 1990 but the new kids who have come have not yet been disruptive or the same standard as Rehman. What they are doing now is not making anyone who likes music very confident. Having said all these, there is still a small doubt inside me if Rehman has indeed opened the floodgates to all composers and in the doing so has he started the decay of Tamil film music. Let me elaborate on this point.

Social media is a boon for all the online retailers. Well it's a generalization but still looks to be true. Most of them try to entice their users to make that final click so that they earn something from online. I like social media since it allows me to make friends with people I know and those whom I don't know but share a common interest. It also allows me to build network, get instant gratifications on my opinions and at a lot of time provides the freedom from actual work in my office. Having said that, social media can also turn out to be your main hindrance towards success. One of the main hindrance it does to in your focus or concentration. On countless occasions I have found myself lost while browsing through YouTube or click on tweets, watching Big Boss troll videos and Tamil cinema memes. [The list is endless, trust me] In all these times, I have never realised that this time is hurting my success factor. Just like everyone I am also ambitious and do not want to waste time, rob my precious hours, and steal my success - it all starts with a little click to kill your time [you would have planned for 10 minute break] but you wind up losing considerable amount of your productive hours. Social media is also addictive in nature, once you allow your temptation you will be sucked into it, [Make me reminded of my Grandma's Jhangiri, it all starts with one and ends with 12 and a SLAP] Not only that, it also gives you a false sense of connection and without your knowledge your privacy is invaded to an considerable extent. So you are wondering, having said all these negative how can we make this villain work for you? I have found 3 methods [not calling them easy] where I am the one in control. Any good parent wants their kids to stay out of trouble, do well in school, and go on to do awesome things as adults. And while there isn't a set recipe for raising successful children, psychology research has pointed to a handful of factors that predict success. Unsurprisingly, much of it comes down to the parents. Parental priorities aren't the only factor, of course. There are plenty of stories out there about people who defied the odds and achieved great success despite their parents' involvement, not because of it. Although science cannot nail total facts for a fool proof system or methodology, Psychiatric studies have pointed out via empirical experiments about 10 common characteristics which are present in all those parents of those successful kids. Here's what parents of successful kids have in common: You are possibly looking at me like a weirdo, right? You are thinking that the whole world is asking you to find sources of motivation by reading books and watching to YouTube videos. Yes its true, but hang on I have some valid reasons for asking you to quit reading those books. I know by the time you finish reading this blog you will be agreeing with my thought process and tips. You see, motivation is a very slipper area. As you are aware that we are all different individuals with different capabilities and strengths. So what works for one person will not work for another. There is no one size fits all solution for motivation. For example: the mental make up of Sehwag is obviously different from that of Rahul Dravid. We cannot use the same tools for motivating both of them before their start of the innings. Sometime it is very easy to fall into the trap of using laziness as an excuse. I tried and have listed down 4 points on why you should quit reading motivational books and also give you tips on what to do for you to move forward. They are: 1. Human mind finds it difficult to differentiate between Fiction and Facts 2. These books create an artificial illusion of success 3. There is nothing new being said 4. No can can substitute for you Your mindset matters. It affects everything - from the business and investment decisions you make, to the way you raise your children, to your stress levels and overall well-being. -- Peter Diamandis (American Businessman) What does mindset have to do with happiness? You are probably wondering that if I work harder and beat all of them in the race, I succeed. I will be happy? No! Your mindset has to be a part of that success plan. Did you know that unhappiness has been the worst disease to hit mankind between the years 2019-2021. COVID-19 has been a primary agent for it. This disease seems to be spreading across the work-from-home lifestyle to kids to almost everyone. Are you aware that the quality of happiness you have at this point in your life is determined by a particular mindset that you have created over a period of time? You are wondering what am I trying to say here. So let me put it in plain English - Happiness is a choice. No matter what your personal or professional circumstances, you can adjust your attitude and elevate your “degree of overall happiness” by choosing to shift your present mindset. In short, it's a choice that you have to make. I like to call this more than a choice as an "attitude adjustment". By truly understanding the mood that you are current in, helps you in better handling on what is going to come next. You will certainly make a choice which will make you feel better and not unhappy. All they teach at school and college are only data and information but nobody talks about how to be happy. We are always fed with the notion that hard work = success == happiness. Which is true to an extent but no one is stating the underlying constraint for this equation is MINDSET. The current day situation and environment are not very conducive to simplicity. Look at the speed at which we want things - instant gratification, instant 1 day delivery, instant telemetry data to confirm your assumptions. Everything is speed and with speed comes complexity and stress. Now-a-days every relationship is also not giving time for the relationship to bloom and call it off prematurely. Why? It's mainly due to stress, peer pressure, unable balance reality and online avatar or self-doubt and anger or all of the above. Many of them say that leadership is a journey - in the same logic according to me then happiness is a continuous process which needs constant monitoring and instant feedback changes. So what are those changes? Let us have a quick look. |
