Education has been a problem for India or put it in another way, lack of quality education has been existing for several decades. Even Rabindranath Tagore wrote lengthy articles about how Indian education system needs to change. Funny thing is that from the colonial times, few things have changed.
We have established good technology institutions such as IIT, IISC and IIM, and we have tons of students who score more than 95%+ and still find it difficult to get into the colleges of their choice. Which means we are doing something not right than what is required.

It's very easy to get confused between productive and being busy. It's easy to feel productive when you are really just busy. But busyness and productivity are two different things; a difference that makes a world of difference in your life.
Here’s how to tell whether you are productive or busy. If you have been promoted to a management position, then you will be feeling a little weird for the first time. Butterflies will be there in your stomach as you take charge of the position. Usually stepping into a management position is a huge accomplishment and carries it's own set of challenges and perils.
If you are not quiet sure on how to make a smooth transition into the new role, here are some of the most common mistakes which first time leaders and managers make, which you can try and avoid. If avoided I am pretty sure that the transition would be smooth as expected. Just as we form habits in the way we act, we also form habits in the way we think. Sometimes these habits are positive, and help us to form better relationships and achieve greater success in life. Other times our habitual thinking patterns can be damaging to our own mental health, to our relationships, and even to others around us.
These toxic thinking patterns are usually made up of thoughts that distort our realities and we all have them to some degree or another. It's when these patterns become habitual they lead not only to inconveniences but also to serious emotional and health problems. David Burkus is a very dangerous man …
He has punctured 2 of my long standing beliefs in Creativity & Management. First I was happy and absolved from all forms of responsibility from being creative. Then I read this book Myths of Creativity, and now I can no longer sit on the couch with lays potato chips watching T20 cricket and say "I am not the creative type, it doesn't run in my gene". Now leading a happy life on the couch in not possible. He has busted my belief on Creativity Then again Burkus is back breaking the second belief of mine with his new book on management - Under New Management (aptly named too) where he explains the tired blood of old management and leadership practices, which we intuitively understand to be less than effective but have allowed to continue long after their expiry date. |
